Sur mon chemin / On my path

Ces derniers jours ont été riches en bouleversements émotionnels, Gisèle, la mère de mon mari, nous a quitté mardi après un mois de lutte, peu avant notre visite et nous l'avons accompagnée il y a deux jours, lors de sa dernière cérémonie. Face à la réalité, toute la philosophie est de peu de secours, il faut se tenir debout, Gisèle continue à vivre dans notre mémoire.

J'ai assez peu travaillé cet hiver, ma propre mère a été hospitalisée en urgence au moment de Noel,  et à nouveau mercredi dernier, j'ai souvent eu le désir de ne rien faire, mais le travail avec la terre a été une aide précieuse pour me recentrer, entre deux allers et retours sur le continent, entre deux tempêtes.

Vous pouvez voir à quel point je suis inspirée par le travail de Jane Wheeler dont je suis le blog depuis que j'ai commencé à mettre les mains dans la terre, il y a cinq ans. J'admire également la façon dont elle écrit son blog.

Je suis très contente que le vase ci-dessus ait été accepté par le groupe Kamataki-aid crée par Masaaki Gas Kimishima, Nancy Elisabeth Fuller et quatre autres potiers vivant au Royaume Uni, sur Facebook, pour aider les potiers du Tohoku au Japon après le tsunami du 11 mars 2011. Il fera partie d'une vente à leur profit.

These last few days have been full of emotional upheaval , Gisele, my husband's mother, passed away on Tuesday after a month of fighting, shortly before our visit, two days before, we accompanied her, during her last ceremony. Facing reality, the philosophy is of little help, we must stand up, Gisele continues to live in our memory.

I made very little work this winter, my own mother was hospitalized in emergency at Christmas, and again last Wednesday, I often had the desire to do nothing but working with clay was a valuable help to refocus myself, between two round trips on the mainland, between storms .

You can see how I am inspired by the work of Jane Wheeler I follow her blog since I started putting hands in clay, five years ago. I also admire the way she writes her blog.

I am very happy that the vase above was accepted by the Kamataki -aid group created by Masaaki Gas Kimishima, Nancy Elizabeth Fuller and four other  potters living in the UK on Facebook, to help Tohoku potters in Japan after the tsunami March 11, 2011. It will be part of a sale for their benefit.

J'avais l'intention de laisser un peu tomber la couleur, de travailler la texture et de faire des grandes pièces.  En ajoutant du gros sable pris au Petit Port Blanc à ma terre de Saint Amand, je ne savais pas trop quel résultat j'obtiendrais. Cela donne des tâches sombres et des craquelures en fait j'ai pensé que tout aurait pu exploser. Je suis contente de cet émail blanc à la cendre et à l'étain, qui fonctionne bien avec toutes ces terres, et même avec la porcelaine. 

C'est un émail proche d'un shino sur le triangle de Montmollin. La recette m'a été donnée par un potier danois et j'ai promis de la garder secrète. C'est un très bel émail qui peut être mat ou brillant selon l'épaisseur, couleur pain brûlé appliqué très fin, il est beau sur toutes les terres et sur porcelaine également. Il est doux au touché.  Tous les pots sur cette page sont émaillés avec cet émail.

I intend to drop the color, make textured work and make big pieces. Adding coarse sand taken at 'Petit Port Blanc' in my Saint Amand clay, I did not know what result I would get. This gives dark spots and cracks in fact I thought everything could explode. I'm glad with this ash and tin glaze, which works well with all these clays, and even porcelain. 

It is near to a shino glaze on the triangle Montmollin. The recipe was given to me by a Danish potter who trained me, and I promised to keep it secret. This is a beautiful glaze that can be matte or glossy depending on the thickness, color burnt bread applied very thin, it is beautiful on all clays and porcelain also. It is soft to the touch. All the pots in this post are glazed with this glaze.
